Honoring Four Chaplains Day

02/14/2010

On February 3, 2010, MN Rep. Michelle Bachmann stood on the House floor and delivered this short presentation honoring four chaplains. All politics aside, this is a story worth remembering. I have marked as one of my favorites on my YouTube page if you would like to check it out. I encourage you to take the 4-1/2 minutes to listen to the story of heroism and selflessness by these four fine men.

The Four Chaplains were four United States Army chaplains who gave their lives to save other soldiers during the sinking of the troop ship USAT Dorchester during World War II. They helped other soldiers board lifeboats and gave up their own life jackets when the supply ran out. The chaplains joined arms, said prayers, and sang hymns as they went down with the ship.
